A multi-vendor ISO Committee has completed the development of an international standard defining the job exchange format for Variable Data Printing (VDP). ISO 16612-2 Graphic technology — Variable data exchange — Part 2: Using PDF/X-4 and PDF/X-5 (PDF/VT) defines the PDF/VT document format and methods to enable PDF exchange for variable data and transactional printing.
PDF/VT stands for Variable Transaction and is an emerging ISO standard (ISO 16612-2) for describing the variable-data PDF documents to enable efficiency and consistent quality in the production of variable-data PDF documents.
The Committee members included industry’s leading printers, vendors for Raster Image Processors (RIP) and software, commercial printers, and other industry stakeholders. Some of the leading companies involved are Adobe, Callas Software, Eastman Kodak, EFI, Global Graphics, GMC, HP Indigo, Pageflex, Printable and Xerox.
